金曜日のテクノ presents：What was John Paul

On Friday, May 16th, at an old Japanese house turned clubhouse—bar bonobo–we will attempt to create a universal language. Two floors, two spaces: on the cozy dance floor on the first floor, we will feature a lineup of DJs and musicians from Japan and abroad. Let your mind relax and contemplate those rising thoughts. A compelling rhythm with multiple layers. On the 2nd floor, a tatami room, a place where friendships are nurtured and thoughts transform into conversations. Genre-fluid DJs will accompany the flavors of YAMI SUSHI, Tiny Bird Coffee Service, and the offerings of our craft vendors, PAPIZONDON, Masato Nakano. Live painting by NATATA, the audiovisual works by sakamichi and Black Pomeranian will also help bring forth new conversations and interactions. Performances of Japanese poetry, haiku and tanka, will channel the power of language to render a multisensory experience. Photographer SAI will capture the hard-to-imagine scenes with his camera. Let’s dance, chat, and contemplate the rhythm of our voices. Our event is titled “John Paul” as a reference to a character from a sci-fi novel who uses a form of “linguistic manipulation” to protect those around him. Like John Paul, we hope to understand the power of language, cutting across the lines of national origin and gender. “The words seeping out of the man’s mouth were like an incantation—so potent that just listening to them felt as though they were encroaching on my very sanity.” Project Itoh (伊藤 計劃). Genocidal Organ. Hayakawa Publishing, 2007 5月16日、金曜日のテクノが未踏の実験的アプローチに挑む。 舞台は古民家を改装したユニークな内装と音響セッティングで、世界中の人々に愛されるbar bonobo。 様々なバックグラウンドのオーディエンスとパーティークルーで、「誰でも通じ合える言語の存在」を検証する。 1Fのダンスフロアでは
bonoboはじめ国内、世界で活躍するDJ・音楽家 を招聘。踊りながら言語の普遍性を、感じ考え追究していく。 ライブパートでは本の一節をカットアップして朗読・MIXをつくる”本のDJ”伊藤竣泰が、言語の応酬をパフォーマンスへ昇華させる。 2FはDJやフード・ショップを通し、マイペースにパーティーを咀嚼できるチルスペースだ。 バーからレイヴまで様々なベニューで活躍するDJ陣がフロアを温め、 Tiny Bird Coffee ServiceとYAMI SUSHIが筆舌に尽くし難い飲食を振る舞う。 ショップはPAPIZONDON・ナカノマサトが出店。尖った対話と学びが広がる店先になるだろう。 そんな2Fの空気と往来を吸収したライブペイントを、NATATAが紡ぎ出す。 文字要素を絡めた映像で会場を彩るのはsakamichi・Black Pomeranian。さらに俳人・岩田奎が俳句、歌人・吉村優作、巣々木盥が短歌を映像に乗せ、五感を満たす言語体験をお届けする。 この刺激的な一夜を、カメラを担当するSAIが写真へ収めていく。 パーティータイトルのジョン・ポールという人物は、SF小説の中で「愛する人を守るため」という主張の下、とある”文法”を使って世界をコントロールしていく。 
出身、チャレンジド、セクシュアリティ、様々な属性の分断や対立がある今日。
金曜日のテクノはこのパーティーを通し、こうした課題へも一石を投じる。 踊り、話り、互いを知る、そんな言語がこの夜生まれる。 その日、我々はアンダーグラウンドシーンの新たな発話者となるだろう。
