Mala Junta is back. Early in the collective’s history, one resident was quoted saying “If there’s one thing we stand for, it’s underground club culture from deep down in our hearts.” This mission statement has been borne out in spades. Mala Junta is today one of the most respected raves outfits currently operating. Resident Hyperaktivist steps back into the room to lay it down as only she can. Playing with unbridled kinetic propulsion and an unwavering focus, Hyperaktivist fuses raw power with a bubbling dose of pure bliss. Nene H is an artist with close ties to the party. Her releases on esteemed labels such as Intrepid Skin, Live From Earth and Incienso show an uncompromising musical vision that marries forward thinking sonic experimentation with decisive club maneuvers. ÆON has distinguished herself in a crowded NY scene. Displaying a decisive focus, she harnesses taut, groovy techno with exceptional poise.
Yazzus returns to STUDIO to represent Mala Junta. A DJ with no bounds, Yazzus lets it rip like few can. Cracking electro, sinewy acid, cheeky anthems and shivering, paranoid bangers all find their way into the maelstrom that Yazzus regularly conjures up. Her own productions are livewire club monstrosities par excellence, sparing nothing in service of flipping the mix right on its head. The Mala Junta collective is defined by its fearlessness, and perhaps no member of the crew exemplifies this quite like Yazzus. Sekucci is an essential name in the modern NY underground, bringing an essential club energy and saucy, defiant power. She has a penchant for remixes and edits, and her reworkings of Tinashe, Charli XCX and others are absolute standouts. Dangerous Rose makes her debut. The self-professed pioneer of “trapno,” Dangerous Rose brings a heavy, unbridled Miami flavor. She said it best herself in an interview: “I want it to give pure love, community, joy, fulfillment, and the energy of just excellence. I'm going to be that girl — the Black trans soldier for this f*cking revolution.”
