Weird Science with Jeffrey Sfire & Dan Selzer

Strange, Weird, Obscure. Dance and Non-Dance. A showcase of style and personal taste on a Sunday afternoon. MUSICAL GUESTS ~ For this iteration we welcome two stellar selectors who’ve been on our radar for a long time - Jeffrey Sfire and Dan Selzer. They are both studious lovers of many genres of musics. Jeffrey Sfire is originally from Detroit but has lived all over, Chicago, Berlin, NYC, SF. Not just visiting, but living in these music meccas helped him hone in his fondness for mostly Italo disco, Chicago house, Latin freestyle, early 90s house, and new tracks that encapsulate those styles. He has been a fixture of the queer underground, and has DJed many legendary parties including New York's Wrecked, Pittsburgh's Honcho, San Francisco's Honey Soundsystem, Detroit's Club Toilet, and Berlin's infamous Snax party in Berghain. (And many more!) All he wants is for it to be real real real. Jeffrey is one half of production projects: Sfire, Looky Looky, and Pushing Movies. Dan Selzer is a DJ and music supervisor based in Queens, NY. He has been doing it since the last century. Often mentioned as a "DJ's DJ" he'd preferred to be thought of as a "Fun DJ". Dan is known for co-running the post-punk/no wave reissue label Acute Records, for his italo-disco fandom and for his sole release of naive hi-nrg krautrock techno as New York Endless. Pitchfork magazine’s Phil Sherbourne said “Selzer has been a key figure in New York’s dance music scene for well over a decade”, and that was in 2014. He’s also known as a graphic designer, including collaborations with Metro Area/Environ Records and Mesh-Key Records. On opening duties we have our co-founder, our brother, Andrius, flying in from Amsterdam to be with us. And the exxtra romance will be because … Ania and Mar will be celebrating their marriage union! Weird Science as you know and love it with some frostin' on top. Cake, snacks, bubbly + all evening into night sound exploration. This event series is truly close to our hearts and has been an integral part of what we share as a couple and as musical partners, with amazing music and friends is how we want to celebrate.
