Pariah
Pariah (Arthur Cayzer) is a British music producer and DJ based in Amsterdam. He is the co-founder of the Voam record label alongside Blawan (Jamie Roberts), and the two have collaborated extensively for more than a decade, performing and releasing music together as Karenn and Persher. His output reflects a patient pursuit of physical and emotional impact, liberated from genre limitations.
His earliest productions cut through the vast murk of late 00’s music blogs and caught the ear of Belgian label R&S, which became home to his debut release in 2010 and several more that offered a recombinant perspective on UK dance music. He continued to release records at a considered, contemplative pace en route to his acclaimed 2018 album on fabric's Houndstooth label, Here From Where We Are.
Karenn first formed in 2011, and the project accounts for some of the most instinctual, exciting techno of the 2010s, with improvised live performances setting the standard for the biggest festival stages and in the most intimate sweatboxes. Their 2019 debut album Grapefruit Regret encapsulated the powerhouse, multivalent sound, and coincided with the launch of Voam, which has since become one of dance music's most well-regarded new labels.
He continues to put out his own inescapable tracks that feel like classics from the moment they drop – such as "Caterpillar," released in 2022. It preceded the debut of Persher, which featured Pariah as guitarist, bassist, and co-producer (with Blawan) of the searing Man With The Magic Soap, released on Thrill Jockey. But no matter the alias or avenue, Pariah's music is a memorable swirl of ideas and influences that feels eternally in-progress, waiting for the right collaborators, contexts and crowds to cohere and inspire with rare impact.
Nono Gigsta
« I dance, it’s what I do » Nono Gigsta gets as much joy dancing to music as she does reflecting on it - either as an academic researcher, DJ, producer, promoter, radio host and zine maker. Her DJ-sets range widely: from the very slow to the very fast, the old to the brand new, the silly to the ultra-serious (often incorporating her own collages), in a sweet spot between eclecticism andcoherence, all mixed with precision and consideration. Nono’s show on Cashmere Radio, Fictions, gives you a feel for the breadth of her enthusiasm (themed shows have covered bell sounds, mycelium musings and mountain meanderings).
Currently based in Berlin, but born in Belgium and grown up in France, she has joined the queer femme and non-binary forward collective Room 4 Resistance as a resident and has been promoting her own Fictions parties across town. In the Sameheads basement, Nono regularly invites friends for all-night-long sweaty and bassy b2bs, sharing free zines and getting on the mic. Her reputation for playful, sometimes obscure sets has been spreading across Europe too, leading her to play at festivals and clubs such as CTM, Dekmantel Selectors, Freerotation, Horst, La Machine, Le Sucre, No Symbols and Panorama Bar.
However, Nono Gigsta’s schedule is organised at train-pace. She is currently not flying for climate justice reasons, embracing "slow gigging" and enjoying a sustainable approach to her passion. Train journeys have brought her all the way to different corners of Europe and even Morocco. Nono regularly reflects on this commitment via her newsletter (noemverm.substack.com) and entertains a somewhat abrasive relationship to social media - she doesn’t share any pictures of her face online.
othrwrld
othrwrld is a trans performance artist, music producer, DJ, and self proclaimed aural apothecary, using sound and atmosphere to open portals into new utopian possibilities for posthuman club creatures to experience collective immanence and healing. Equally likely to find her sweating behind the decks at a late night warehouse rave enshrouded in fog, or sitting peacefully weaving textures in a dimly lit chillroom, othrwrld sits on the cutting edge of trans futuristic music, channeling ritualistic rhythms from hypnotic ambient techno, trance, bass, breaks, and progressive groove, to slambient mind journeys, soundbaths and deep dubbed out dancefloors.
