For our April Here on Earth party we’re collaborating with our fellow jazzdance enthusiasts, DJs and promoters Nick Schlittner and Mr. Wynters of the monthly Birmingham session, Come Sunday.
They’ll be making the journey down from Brum to spin the finest vibrations in dance floor jazz - from jazz-funk, fusion and hard bop, to Latin and Brazilian rhythms on vinyl.
We'll also have our resident Here on Earth DJs Rhys, Sam and Dan spinning across the night.
Nick Schlittner (@nicklovesjazz) and Jayson Wynters (@mrwynters) are the creative duo behind Come Sunday, the Birmingham Jazz Dance session which has just celebrated its second birthday.
Over the last 15 years Jayson has gained an international reputation as a DJ and Producer of electronic dance music, playing at Berghain and the Free Flow Festival whilst also curating events and club-nights at Artum a multi-use arts space in Birmingham.
Nick has been a record collector and occassional DJ for over 40 years. Aged 15 he made his DJ debut at Chats Palace in Hackney supporting Sun-Ra drummer Clifford Jarvis and as a student was part of the Rated X crew alongside Psychemagiks Danny McLewin running weekly Acid Jazz and Hip Hop Nights in Liverpool.
Jayson and Nick came together to create a Jazz listening-session but quickly realised that everyone wanted to dance, and recruited local DJ and radio-presenter Tom Belte, well know for his electic taste and out-there, cosmic mixes to add something a little different to the mix and Come Sunday was born.
