Dance is the remedy for a Broken Soul!
Following takeovers at We Out Here Festival and Dingwalls, purveyors of soulful selections invite special guest selecta Sticky Dub to Dalston's best dancefloor, Ridley Road MB. Expect lots of disco, broken beat, soulful house, and a bit of heavy bass weaponry from the international dread himself, with Ché Wax, Kojay and Telefunk warming it up nice.
London's newest dance is Broken Soul: its mission is to create a space refocusing on freedom, movement and allowing expressive energy on the floor, injecting dance music's emotive and soulful roots back into the modern club sound, whilst maintaining a dubwise heavy bass sensibility. Their selection draws mainly from an eclectic mix of Broken Beat (aka Bruk), Soul Disco, Motown, Boogie, Deep House, Reggae, Hip-Hop, 2-Step, UK Garage & Funky, and Jazz Funk.
Broken Soul was a concept which was surprise launched at We Out Here Festival 2024 in collaboration with Red Bull, Keep It Cryptic, and Apricot Ballroom Soundsystem, inviting one of club cultures most influential DJs Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy to play on the Klipshorn hifi backstage chill-out zone the Red Bull Recharge Station, alongside residents SNO, DMC, & CHÉ, all playing downtempo selections. Since then it has done a run of residency dates at Camden's famous Dingwalls, and is now moving over to one of Dalston's hottest spot Ridley Road MB for an Easter Sunday special with none other than special guest: Sticky Dub.

Sticky Dub the Liverpool born ‘international dread’ brings so much more to the music than what meets the ear. Something intangible is present in his works that seems to resonates deeply withe people. His bushman meets rudebwoi energy, unique rhythms and lyrical expression electrify the dance floor every time.
‘Sticks’ began his musical journey as a member of the HipHop trio ‘Nutribe’ who performed at the 1st ‘We Out Here’ festival as part of the Brownswood Future Bubblers. He later went solo and solidified himself with his debut EP ‘Reasonin’ which went on to open doors for him to connect with veteran in the game. following that release Sticky worked with staples in the Broken Beat Scene such as Dance Regular, IG Culture & more releases gems that got his name echoing on dance floors across the UK.
His most recent release ‘ Never Give Weapons To A Man Who Can’t Dance’ released on Eglo Records 2024, has quickly become a cult classic. His unique style and approach has brought a fresh energy to the scene, somehow merging broken beat, hiphop, reggae, soul and house. Both his label and independent releases are thriving on radio stations, club nights and his live shows are establishing themselves new brand of bruk & jazz!
CHÉ
Ché Wax is a producer, DJ and white label from Liverpool who has played at festivals such as We Out Here, Beatherder, and Gottwood. Ché has forged his own sound from a versatile record selection exploring the psychedelic outskirts of genres like bruk and jazz-funk, to disco-dub and 80s boogie, electro-funk and acid-house, with releases on labels such as Fabric, Atjazz, Erbium, Heavenly, and Rough Trade.
His eclecticism has led to collaborations with major artists in the pop world, playing a key role in the early development of chart-topping band Confidence Man, whilst keeping it real under various other aliases producing with broken beat legends Sticky Dub and EVM128. Ché has played alongside the likes of Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy, Alexander Nut, and Radioactive Man, at seriously underground secret locations across Europe - including Parisian warehouse raves, Amsterdam coffeeshops, and London hifi clubs. Ché has also played at Ridley Road a few times now so knows exactly the goods for this dancefloor!
