Kerala Dust hypnotizes VEGA with electronic melodies
Kerala Dusts music is made to accompany a film. With its hypnotic beats, dusty guitar riffs, dark keyboard sounds and lead singer Edmund Kenny's blurred and understated vocals, new images constantly pop up on the retina as the listener immerses themselves in their captivating universe.
The group was formed in London in 2016, but is based in Berlin, and you can feel the influence of the German capital's legendary electronic underground scene in Kerala Dust's songwriting, both in the spherically dreamy productions and more corporeal techno impulses. At the same time, Kerala Dust has a great love for psychedelic rock and scrappy blues, which also colors the atmospheric soundscapes. If you like Tycho, Darkside, ODESZA and Mount Kimbie, the Englishmen's meditative electronica is most likely something for you too.
Kerala Dust debuted in 2020 with the excellent album Light, West, which was followed in 2023 by the strong “Violet Drive”, which was released via the prestigious indie label PIAS (Crystal Castles, Mogwai, Placebo). Since then, the group has spent a large part of their time touring large parts of the globe. Now the Brits are back with the brand new, raw groovy single “Bell”, and at the same time they are getting ready to jump on the tour bus later this year, to be more precise on September 30th, where they will fill Store VEGA with their hypnotic beats.
