Interdisciplinary artist and composer Colin Self’s third album Respite ∞ Levity for the Nameless Ghost in Crisis, will be released on February 21, 2025, via RVNG. This deeply introspective work explores themes of life, death and transcendence, blending the material and immaterial. Self channels voices of the departed, singing in Latin and Polari to communicate with unseen spirits while drawing inspiration from queer and trans histories.
The album marks a return after years of personal loss and self-exploration, creating an otherworldly soundscape that melds electronic experimentation with hauntingly beautiful vocals. Tracks like Busy Walks Into the Memory Palace offer danceable futurism, while songs like ∞ reflect on infinity, grief and transformation. Puppetry and the uncanny, reminiscent of artist Greer Lankton’s work, also inform the album’s aesthetic. The album will be presented in a specially staged live show including a choir at Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.
Respite ∞ Levity for the Nameless Ghost in Crisis is available on vinyl, CD and digital formats with proceeds supporting the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
Colin Self will be supported by Mun Sing, the solo alias of Harry Wright, a producer, songwriter, visual artist and DJ from Bristol. He has gained a reputation for exhilarating live performances and complex theatrical club music productions. His recorded output often merges tongue-in-cheek playfulness with obtuse rhythms and warped vocal sounds, resulting in some fiercely original dance music.
