The Nitty Gritty is a vinyl only, rare groove focused monthly party in NE Mpls. This month we welcome Phriz to the booth for an eclectic jazz, funk & soul set before resident Blue Funk takes over for an extended set of rare grooves, boogie & disco. Phriz has been a steady presence in the mpls underground for years, DJing at numerous events while documenting the scene in mpls through his impeccably shot & edited photography. His DJ sets focus on the intersection of house, broken-beat, jazz & neo-soul. Phriz will be pulling out records from the funkier side of his collection for this occasion... "I have a stack of records that would be perfect for Nitty Gritty, but I wouldn't have a chance to play them elsewhere," he said, in prepping for this show. This isn't the first time Phriz & Blue Funk have shared the decks. They connected in MPLS and shared decks for last year's official movement pre-party hosted by Wax Appeal. This event is free and the drinks are cheap. Intimate floor for dancing & patio for socializing... come early & stay late.
