Leeds Jazz Festival and the Lift Your Feet gang are proud to present Coco Maria as we return for another Jazz Dance DJ Session at Hyde Park Book Club. Last year with Tina Edwards was a sell out wall to wall super-dance and we cannot wait to be back to do it again.
Coco Maria
One of the most unique and uncompromising DJs in the world: Coco María is a selector, curator and radio host with impeccable taste.
Hailing originally from Mexico and now based in Europe, she specializes in Brazilian, South American, Central American, and Caribbean wax. Irresistible slices of forward-thinking electronic, future Latin, jazz, samba, cumbia, and all sorts of rarities from sunny, far-off places-and all mixed with her irrepressible energy and original style.
2023 saw her release her second 'Club Coco' compilation on Bongo Joe Records, the eagerly-awaited follow up to her widely-acclaimed 2021 debut release-which placed her front and centre as one of the most exciting new DJs around. This latest LP is a fascinating and riotous snapshot of artists on the frontiers of contemporary tropical music, and is a testament to Coco María's passion for curation and musical discovery.
Alongside this, Coco María continues to spread the Club Coco mission far and wide, broadcasting her beloved bi-weekly' Club Coco' radio show on NTS Radio-as well as curating unique Club Coco events at clubs and festivals.
Recent DJ sets and Club Coco take overs include the likes of Pickle Factory London UK, Panorama Bar-Berghain Berlin DE, GALA London UK, Body & Soul Festival IE, The Empty Bottle Chicago US, Gold Line Los Angeles US, North Sea Jazz Festival NL, Down The Rabbit Hole NL, Potato Head Bali IDN, We Out Here UK, Gonzo's Two Room UK, Flow Festival FI, Lost Village Festival UK, Cosmic Slop UK, Yamamori Tengu Dublin IE and Dekmantel Selectors HR.
