Eastern Nurseries Presents: Box5ive (live), Canadian Rifles (live), Burning Pyre (live) and 7asassiyeh (DJ) at The Lubber Fiend in Newcastle upon Tyne.
BOX5IVE is a London-based producer, live performer and DJ who released his debut LP in June 2024 on @coclear_ and has also featured on labels like Well Street, Comic Sans Records, Initiate, and Panel Audio. Box5ive's music spans from techno, ambient, IDM, and bass-heavy dub, blending experimental and atmospheric sounds to create a unique sonic landscape.
CANADIAN RIFLES is the solo moniker of Porto-based experimental musician Rui P. Andrade. At the helm of the Eastern Nurseries imprint, Andrade’s recorded music is characterised by its boundless sensitivity, with his ability to convey delicate emotions via opulent yet subtle sonic processes. Lurching between heavily textured electronics, alluring melodies and an ether-like sense of fatalism, Andrade’s work as Canadian Rifles doesn’t want to be taken in as a canvas, it demands to be physically affective. As the axiom of the label he runs himself implies: it is music that bleeds, no matter the shape or form.
BURNING PYRE is a Newcastle-upon-Tyne based producer and composer. Remaining true to his atmospheric and melancholic ambient roots, Burning Pyre has broadened his web of influences to incorporate elements of dub, downtempo and glitch music into his sonic palette. Pairing organically shifting ambience with skittering percussion, cavernous sub bass and textural pops and clicks, Burning Pyre’s upcoming full-length project, Imago, perfectly encapsulates the gentleness and bittersweet sensibility that has remained a constant throughout his body of work.
7ASASSIYEH is a curatorial project and archival pursuit of Nat M Halaseh. Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, their mixes and collections are heavily informed by their Hungarian and Jordanian identity. Weaving different fragments of song, sound and personal field recordings, they endeavour to dampen constructed borders of genres and preconceived notions of cultural sound, with pieces that are both centred and un-interrupting.
