So we roll straight on to the next one and this time we welcome two highly respected and truly awesome Drum & Bass practitioners for our guest headline DJs. Presenting: VILLEM Drew Wilson aka Villem and one half of duo Villem & McLoed steps up with decades of deep-rooted energy behind the decks and in the studio. A classically trained composer turned rave technician, his many releases span iconic imprints like Metalheadz, Med School, Samurai, C.I.A, Liquid V, Fokuz, 31 Records, Spearhead, Utopia Music and a recent release on UKF. His smooth productions blend soul, funk, crystlaine production and a deep rolling style into his distinctive, dancefloor-focused sound. Joining Villem as co-headliner for this edition of Slippin’ is: SWEETPEA/ A fierce selector and forward-thinking producer with over a decade in the game. From pirate radio roots on Rude FM, to hosting the BBC Radio 1 DnB show and now holding it down bi-weekly on Kool FM, Sweetpea brings heavyweight presence with every set. As a founding member of EQ50 alongisde DJ Flight, she’s helped reshape the scene for women and non-binary artists, while her production work with Sofa Sound, Spearhead and AKO Beatz shows her depth across the DnB spectrum — from rollers to jungle pressure! … Both of these brilliant DJs will be playing 1.5 hour sets not the normal 1 hour slots you see out at most DnB nights as this way the DJs can take you more places right?! Expect them both to roll out proper! To round off the DJ lineup and to get the room bubbling we welcome OPTIMYSTIC! Optimystic is an insane DJ, accomplished producer, passionate Jungle DnB head and a true school (does it for the love) promoter. We’ve asked Optimystic to come and play a 2hr ‘Deep Jungle Set’ as that will be a real vibe with him at the controls. Think late nineties bubbling Jungle sounds and early liquid! As a producer he’s had releases on Reinforced, Omni Music, Jungle Syndicate, Eastern Promise, AGN7, Transmute & Dalston Chillies. Optimystic was also the host of a brilliant monthly session ‘Optimystic and Friends’ at The Golden Lion which ran for 7 years! KILLER DJ! Finally, to round off the line-up we are proud to welcome back MC BLUEJAY Stepping on the stage for hosting and mic duties, Bluejay brings a steady energy, adept hosting and well-versed ryhmes to enhance the vibe and keep you all locked in! With over a decade's experience jumping on sets with many big DJs and across countless Bristol nights or venues, he is also well part of ’Truth Hertz’ and a regular on Metalheadz line-ups of late for good reason!
