We're back for our 4th run out at South London's Ormside Projects ꩜
Woody92
Omen Wapta label head Woody92 joins us for a very rare UK performance & his Ormside Projects debut. As a DJ, Woody92 is a true experimentalist who operates on the fringes with a singular and sophisticated style. The Dutchman draws on his interest in graphic design to come at sound from a different perspective, often exploring psychoactive strains of leftfield electronics, hypnotic techno and radiant minimalism that is very present in his outward digital visualisation and curation.
He has built an international but close-knit circle of creative friends and collaborators who all work on fresh future music for his Omen Wapta label which he calls "a transitory playground for the imagination." and over the past few years, the label & parties have garnered a reputation across the Netherlands and European scene that is almost of almost a cult-like status.
Having cut his teeth at a number of clubs and institutions across Europe, he is equally respected for capturing the energy and curiosity of audiences in outsider spaces across his native Netherlands, as well as far beyond. His pristine yet unpredictable mixes have already left a unique musical footprint, establishing a quietly defiant reputation as a musical curator with increasingly rare depth and focus.
colell
Manchester based, Madrid born label owner & party starter colell also joins the line up in May. A multidisciplinary artist who is just as comfortable exploring the introspective landscapes of ambient as he is going dark & deep. As well as DJing, colell also runs his own label, aurora records & organises a non profit party which focusses on connecting the conscious and subconscious inner landscapes of our minds.
colell’s sound is deep & textural, floating through the plains of deep techno, half-time and trance, taking you into unknown territories. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for us on the 9th.
dan nicholls (live)
dan nicholls is an artist whose deep interest in ecstatic practices and commonalities has seen their Sunday party series, Free Movements become a space in which a growing community can join in emergent practices of dance, sound, visual art, speculative imagining and mutual care.
As a keyboardist, producer and improviser, dan nicholls embraces sound as a tool for liberation, healing and joyful communion, intricately crafting sound worlds which invite listeners to explore both other-worldly perceptions and the grounding and embodying nature of sound and movement, dan's work deeply considers how sonic (and other) gestures might facilitate forms of resistance, unity and deeper understanding.
LNR b2b Dj wiggles
Closing out the night we have Garage Noord affiliate LNR joining resident Dj wiggles for a 2 hour b2b.
The Amsterdam-based writer and DJ is forever inspired by the collective dialogue between her journalistic research surrounding dance music history and her obsession with collecting old-school vinyl, the multi-disciplined artist translates pen to wax by creating journeys centred around fluid iterations of sound system culture.
Exploring refractions of music in the hardcore and psychedelic spectrums and integrating technological rawness with dissociative coils, LNR has played alongside 90s legends like 69db from Spiral Tribe, Eat Static, Felix K, μ-Ziq, and Scion, and has DJ’d in Amsterdam’s Garage Noord and for Belgium’s free party collective, V23.
Her recent set for Gimic radio traverses freaky half-time, drum & bass and dubstep and has made us so so excited for this b2b.
