The legendary UK band Madness will headline the magical Tofte Manor on July 13th.
Emerging from the backstreets of Camden Town in the late ‘70s, Madness has remained one of Britain’s most enduring musical treasures. With 15 top 10 singles, 10 UK top 10 albums, and countless awards—including the prestigious Ivor Novello—they’ve left an indelible mark on music history. From performing atop Buckingham Palace during the Queen’s Jubilee to setting record-breaking audiences for the BBC’s Live New Year’s Eve Broadcast, Madness has defined the soundtrack of generations. Their live shows continue to unite music lovers in joyous celebration.
We can all look forward to a live performance packed with classic hits like “Our House,” “It Must Be Love,” “Baggy Trousers,” “One Step Beyond,” and “House of Fun,” as well as exciting new material from their latest record. Hailed for their iconic hits and lively performances, Madness will bring their signature energy and timeless sound to a venue that effortlessly blends history, charm and magic.
Madness said themselves about the show: “We didn’t think there were any houses, county estates or fields we hadn’t played at...then who knew that the charming Tofte Manor in Bedford was literally right on our doorstep. Madheads unite next summer at this intimate and historic venue.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to walk the manor’s sacred labyrinth, a mirrored design of the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth in France. This symbol of peace and reflection offers a unique spiritual dimension, making Tofte Manor’s events as much about connection and inspiration as they are about world-class music.
The full line up features a host of acts from across the spectrum of ska, reggae, dub and more. The legendary British club, radio and sound system DJ, Norman Jay MBE aka the UK's Godfather of Groove, Don Letts, who in the 70s was the link between the burgeoning punk and reggae scenes, playing heavy dub records to members of bands such as The Clash, The Sex Pistols and The Slits and London-based DJ, festival organiser and musician Poly-Ritmo, who brings heat to the hips and feet with selections from around the globe.
A powerhouse of UK sound system culture Trojan Sound System join the line up featuring Supa4 Creation, Chucky Bantan and Hopepa from Fat Freddy’s Drop. Renowned selector and Notting Hill Carnival veteran Dubplate Pearl brings her deep knowledge of reggae, dub & sound system culture. The Bodysnatchers lead vocalist and collaborator of the Specials Rhoda Dakar is set to take to the decks with her 2-Tone expertise. A driving force behind Bristol Hi-Fi alongside Massive Attacks Daddy G, Queen Bee is a staple of Bristols vibrant music scene. Leading DJ on Eruption Radio, Mr Vee rounds off the Madness at the Manor lineup with his expertly curated sets, blending reggae, garage and Jungle.
A festival feast from the variety of sounds that make Madness the great band they are.
