Munich’s very own Ilian Tape label is celebrating 18 years of its dazzling and colourful musical microcosm—an ever-evolving universe of diverse grooves and forward-thinking sound far removed from fleeting trends.
> We don’t think about a specific sound[…]We just have to feel it and both agree that we think it fits. < says Marco Zenker of the Zenker Brothers, whose prestigious Ilian Tape imprint enters adulthood in 2025. Together with his brother Dario, the duo have followed their intuition with remarkable consistency—steering clear of hypes and passing fads in favour of an instinct-led approach that’s stood the test of time.
Their label’s output spans functional, UK-tinged dancefloor tools drawing from Drum & Bass and halftime swagger, dreamy ambient explorations, and even ventures into Jazz and Hip-Hop. The Ilian Tape universe continues to brim with innovation and inspiration.
> Most people think of techno as straight, full-bore banging club music< said Dario in a past interview, > We never saw the label like that. < Tonight’s lineup proves Ilian Tape’s approach with close collaborators.
Alongside the Zenker Brothers and their whirling, kinetic grooves, expect a boisterous back-to-back from longtime label cornerstones Stenny & Skee Mask, whose rugged rhythms and immersive expeditions remain as thrilling as ever. Neapolitan duo Fireground bring a full set to the floor—urgent and funky Techno, brimming with balmy textures. Meanwhile, London-based DJs and producers Mantra & Mia Koden go head-to-head for another buzzing back-to-back session. Expect a whirlwind of genre-blurring brilliance as the Drum & Bass-rooted Mantra collides with Mia Koden’s broad spectrum of global breaks and low-end pressure.
So—what’s next for Ilian Tape now that it’s come of age? More boundary-pushing dance music, no doubt, carried by their trademark sense of integrity.
> Hype always comes and goes, but we always wanted to [do] something that lasts.< It’s hard to argue with the results.
