Planetarium Season Finale, Night Two

We'll gather in front of the hi-fi to spend time together in sound. Bring blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, an eye mask and anything else you need to get comfortable and go deep. We do a small amount of reservations so that there's room to lie down. For this edition, Justin Carter is joined by Sarah Davachi, who will perform live, and Eamon Harkin, who will DJ. _/_/_/_/_/_/ SARAH DAVACHI _/_/_/_/_/_/ Sarah Davachi is a composer and performer whose work is concerned with the close intricacies of timbral and temporal space, utilizing extended durations and considered harmonic structures that emphasize gradual variations in texture, overtone complexity, psychoacoustic phenomena, and tuning and intonation. Her work is entrancing and physical, often leading to states of "where am I, and what is happening?". Her compositions span chamber ensemble, and acousmatic formats, incorporating a wide range of acoustic and electronic instrumentation. This evening, she'll be performing solo work on the five-point Klipschorn setup. _/_/_/_/_/_/ EAMON HARKIN _/_/_/_/_/_/ Eamon Harkin is one half of the partnership that conceived of and started Mister Saturday Night, Mister Sunday, Planetarium and Nowadays. As a DJ, label owner, music producer and venue operator, Eamon cares little for the boundaries of musical genre, finding greater interest in vibe, connection and storytelling. In his Planetarium sets, he often calls on the music of his home in Ireland, weaving together ancient and modern sounds to land the listener in their body and connect them to their past. _/_/_/_/_/_/ JUSTIN CARTER _/_/_/_/_/_/ Justin Carter is the other co-creator of Planetarium as well as the resident DJ of the series. Justin's practices of space making and music are intertwined, aligning to create moments for community and catharsis. With Planetarium, he builds a world for letting go, together. His tools are a shared meal, scented smoke wafting through the room, tuning forks, shoes placed by the door, candles flickering in the dark, a song sung a capella, records that create vast, detailed scenes in the mind and even the words you are reading now. _/_/_/_/_/_/ DINNER + BYO DRINKS _/_/_/_/_/_/ Dinner will be served by Marisa Mendez Marthaller aka Soup Doula between 7pm and 8pm, when we'll keep the lights up and have a more social hour before we go deep. There will be two soups (one of them vegan) served with hunks of fresh baked bread. Dinner is included in the price of your ticket. (You are welcome to bring your own dinner if you have specific dietary needs.) Otherwise, you can bring your own drinks (and your own cups). We'll have all the creature comforts that you might otherwise need inside, so you never have to leave the bubble we're creating. _/_/_/_/_/_/ RESERVATIONS + LOCATION _/_/_/_/_/_/ Because we do Planetarium at a private space, we only send the location info to people who reserve space in advance. We'll send out the location from ask@mistersaturdaynight.com on the morning of the session. Make sure to safe list that email address so you receive the notification. Also, before you make your reservation, be sure to check that the email address you have on file with RA is one that you can actually access. If you have not received this email by noon on Saturday, January 25, but have reserved a spot, search your spam, junk, promotions and other folders for an email from ask@mistersaturdaynight.com. The subject is always something like: "Please Read: All The Info For Planetarium". So you know how to plan, we can tell you it's not too far from Nowadays, less than five minutes from the Halsey L. If reservations are unavailable when you are looking, activate the notification function on this page, and you'll get an email if space becomes available. The resale system stays open and active until noon on the day before the event. After that, all reservations have to be final so that we can ensure that everyone who reserves space gets the address.
