Celebrate the bank holiday weekend with a special edition of DeepDig.For this one, we’re bringing together two DJs who live and breathe records – both masters in crafting deep, soulful journeys across genres and generations.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Headlining the night is Medlar, who’ll be playing an extended four-hour set. A revered producer and DJ, his sets glide between UK and US house, disco and broken beat, always with soulful and infectious grooves. Breaking through in 2011 with the standout track Terrell, Medlar’s output has since become a fixture in sets by everyone from The Blessed Madonna to Gilles Peterson. Known for his long-standing relationship with the excellent Wolf Music label, he’s released a string of standout EPs that blend deep house with funk, boogie and broken beat – essential listening for heads and dancers alike. His new album Islands is a bold step forward. A rich, expansive record that draws from house, ambient, broken beat and jazz, showcasing Medlar’s depth as a producer and his ear for soulful, evolving soundscapes.
He’s also one half of a genre-defying live collaboration with Afrobeat legend Dele Sosimi, a project that fuses deep electronics with improvisational Afro-jazz, house and soul to powerful effect. With a busy year ahead – including a new album, EPs and a solo live show. This is a chance to catch him doing what he does best: crafting peak-time sets that are warm, rhythmic and full of character.
Warming things up on the terrace is Dom Ore, label head of Miles Away Records and a dedicated digger of soul, jazz and funk rarities. Known for his expertly curated reissues and radio shows on Soho Radio and BBC 6 Music, Dom’s sets are packed with emotion, groove and history. Expect a rich mix of dusty 45s, timeless disco and deep cuts designed for open-air dancing.
This one’s about movement, discovery and real-deal selectors. Come early, stay late.
