Ridgewood Jazz Fest Presents: After Party
Karriem Riggins is a genre-defying force whose work bridges the worlds of jazz and hip hop with masterful ease. A drummer, producer, and songwriter, he earned his jazz credentials early on playing alongside legends like Ray Brown, Oscar Peterson, and Roy Hargrove. As his career evolved, he became a vital contributor to the sound of hip hop’s golden era, lending his talents to artists such as J Dilla, Slum Village, Erykah Badu, The Roots, and even Daft Punk.
A Detroit native with an ear for both precision and groove, Riggins released his solo debut on Stones Throw in 2012 and later co-founded the supergroup August Greene with Common and Robert Glasper. Whether behind the kit or behind the boards, his work continues to shape the sonic dialogue between two of Black music’s most influential genres.
