Homemade party, usually for young people, where you eat, drink and dance."
The Canarians who returned from America at the end of the 19th century brought with them the Caribbean custom of celebrating parties at home for family and friends, in which dancing, revelry and eating predominated.
Some sources indicate that the term 'guateque' comes from the mukuchi, an extinct language spoken by the indigenous people of the Mérida region in Venezuela, and from there, traveled to other Caribbean countries, and then reached us.
Our Guateque, the first great electronic music event in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is a party with a Canarian flavor, for the good weather, the palm trees, the sea and the sun; for the joy of its audience and the good atmosphere that is always created in our events. In each edition, Guateque offers a first-class musical programming and staging, with international, national and local artists.
The garden of the house of Bahía del Rincón - less than 5 minutes from the city - welcomes our Guateque, embraced by the sea and the mountains, to enjoy the best music under the sun or under the shade of the palm trees, without having to stay up late.
