"But, Can She Sing?" number 3 is here! And what better way to celebrate than to have a Major Records showcase! Major Records NYC is a label run by NY-based DJs Will Automagic and Nita Aviance of The Carry Nation and Justin Cudmore and Mike Servito from The Bunker NY. The Major Records NYC sound comprises a wide array of approaches to dance music, a distinct label with sounds and textures that have captivated both the industry and the dance floor alike. Major Records NYC is deeply planted with New York, Chicago and Detroit roots. We are a community driven label, inspiring, growing, thriving, and pushing the boundaries redefining the sound and challenging the dance floor; challenging the system. The Majorettes story: (Will, Nita, & Justin - yes all three were drummers in high school marching band) coming out of Covid while on a creative binge, a new outlet emerged from the trio instinctively forging their own path to self-release their productions. Mike Servito recalls: “I distinctly recall hearing the Major release 'Discotheque' and falling in love with it instantly. 'What is this trifecta, and what have they done with this I Need Your Lovin’ sample?' I was hooked. From that point on, a Majorettes email would come with more releases, more heat, more remixes.” In due time, a twist of fate occurred with the addition of Mike Servito as A&R to help assist In the handling of submissions to the Major Records universe and an exhilarating group effort now fully sprung into action, signing new music and artists, commissioning remixes and contributing to the greater dance stratosphere. We use our collective ears and strive to bring equal parts past, present and future. We are constantly looking to sonically shift a music narrative and shape taste while maintaining a sense of history and purpose. We have been fortunate to tap into a network of friends and family and doing so has exposed us to an array of talented artists that align with the label sound. We will do our best to admit those without tickets but entrance is not guaranteed.
