On May 17th Golden Record NYC welcomes Chicago house music pioneer with over three decades of impact as a DJ, producer, and cultural torchbearer, Mike Dunn. One of the first to fuse house with rap, helping birth hip-house. Dunn’s style blends jackin’ grooves, acid basslines, and gritty Chicago house. From basement parties in Englewood to clubs like Panorama Bar, and as a member of the legendary Chosen Few DJs his influence runs deep: his sets, his vocals, and his live edits remain essential to the story of house music.
Joining him is Ash Lauryn, already back behind the decks at Signal for round two. Equal parts DJ, writer, and cultural connector, she’s a defining voice in modern house music. Ash bridges Detroit's rich musical legacy with contemporary club culture through sharp curation that pushes the sound forward. Her Underground & Black platform uplifts Black artists, amplifying voices often overlooked in mainstream spaces. Whether it’s a vinyl set or a spoken-word interlude on NTS, she brings soul and purpose everywhere she goes.
Also stepping up: Ugandan-born DJ, producer, and label owner Jenifa Mayanja, who has been shaping underground deep house since the early ’90s. Known for her soulful, genre-blurring sound, she founded Bumako Recordings and co-founded Sound Warrior Records to spotlight experimental music and support women producers. A former Dancetracks record buyer turned globally respected DJ, her sets have graced clubs like Berghain, Fabric, and Output. Beyond the booth, she mentors emerging artists through her Music Life Mentor program and teaching at Catalyst Berlin.
With support from JADALAREIGN, Donis, and Matt FX, each bringing their own take on groove and rhythm, setting the pace for what’s to come.
