Klubnacht

Mister Joshooa prägt seit mehr als 20 Jahren die Musikszene in Detroit. Als Music Director und Manager des Clubs TV Lounge hat er aus einer ursprünglich lokalen Bar einen der beständigsten Clubs in der Geburtsstadt des Techno gemacht, in dem regelmäßig Newcomer und die DJs auflegen, die den Sound der Autostadt einst erfunden haben. Wie so viele Techno-Größen vor ihm ist sein Sound schwer zu klassifizieren, aber stark von den Klängen des Midwest House und Techno beeinflusst. Mister Joshooa spielt bei dieser Klubnacht sein erstes Set in der Panorama Bar. Eine weitere Premiere feiert der in Melbourne lebende australische DJ Moopie, der mit A Colourful Storm eines der interessantesten Labels der letzten zehn Jahre betreibt. 2016 nach einer Mix-Serie gegründet, hat das Label seitdem eine umfassende, äußerst diverse Mischung aus alter und neuer Musik veröffentlicht, die von Reissues von 90er Jahre Kulttracks von Christoph de Babalon und Velocette, über aktuelle melancholische IDM-Elektronik, Jungle, japanischer Free Folk und subtiler Pop Music reicht. Seine DJ-Sets sieht er als eine eher funktionale Praxis, bei der Energie der wichtigste Parameter ist. Beides, das Labelmachen und das Auflegen, “überschneidet sich aber oft auf wunderbare Weise, zum Beispiel wenn ich am Ende eines langen Sets etwas von Maxine Funke oder von der Balladen-Compilation Time is Away spiele”. Mister Joshooa has been shaping Detroit's music scene for more than 20 years. As music director and manager of the club TV Lounge, he has turned what was originally a local bar into one of the most enduring clubs in the birthplace of techno, regularly hosting newcomers along with the DJs who helped invent the sound of Motor City. Like so many techno greats before him, his style is hard to classify but is heavily influenced by Midwest house and techno. Mister Joshooa will be playing his first set at Panorama Bar for this Klubnacht. Another premiere comes from Melbourne-based Australian DJ Moopie, who runs one of the most interesting labels of the last ten years, A Colourful Storm. After co-running a mix series, he launched the label in 2016 to release an extensive, extremely diverse array of music, ranging from reissues of 90s cult tracks by Christoph de Babalon and Velocette, to current melancholic IDM electronics, jungle, Japanese free folk and subtle pop music. He sees his DJ sets as a rather functional practice in which energy is the most important parameter. However, label-making and DJing “often overlap in a wonderful way, for example when I play something by Maxine Funke or from the ballad compilation Time is Away at the end of a long set.”
